I am a twenty-something American doctoral student studying political science (specializing in international relations and political theory) in Boston, Massachusetts. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, it took forays into journalism, Capitol Hill and three international organizations (and moves to Vietnam, New Zealand, France and Germany) to cement my fate as a would-be academic in the liberal enclave of all enclaves. I can’t imagine a better life.
Reading has been my lifeblood ever since I learned how. In an obligatory nod to High Fidelity, my desert-island, all-time top-five favorite books are (in autobiographical order): Gulliver’s Travels, The End of the Affair, Anna Karenina, Madame Bovary and Nineteen Eighty-Four. I don’t trust people who don’t like Orwell.
